Synchronization is an on-going process. Each time changes are made in a folder inside ProjectWise that is monitored by AssetWise, you need to synchronize the changes so the latest information can be shown in AssetWise.

Before you synchronize a folder, you need to perform the following tasks in AssetWise Director:

1. Create and approve one or more document templates that will be used to create a new document in the community for each ProjectWise document found during synchronization.
2. Assign the document template to the monitored ProjectWise projects and folders that you want to synchronize.
3. If needed, configure synchronization options on the monitored folders you want to synchronize.
4. If needed, configure attribute mapping settings on the monitored folders you want to synchronize.

Synchronization can be done at any level of the folder structure. Synchronizing a datasource updates all monitored projects, folders and documents. Synchronizing a folder updates that folder, its documents, its subfolders, and their documents. Synchronizing a document only updates the document file and its attributes.
