Before You Synchronize
Synchronization is an on-going process. Each time changes are made in a folder inside ProjectWise that is monitored by AssetWise, you need to synchronize the changes so the latest information can be shown in AssetWise.
Before you synchronize a folder, you need to perform the following tasks in AssetWise Director:
- Create and approve one or more document templates that will be used to create a new document in the community for each ProjectWise document found during synchronization.
- Assign the document template to the monitored ProjectWise projects and folders that you want to synchronize.
- If needed, configure synchronization options on the monitored folders you want to synchronize.
- If needed, configure attribute mapping settings on the monitored folders you want to synchronize.
Synchronization can be done at any level of the folder structure. Synchronizing a datasource updates all monitored projects, folders and documents. Synchronizing a folder updates that folder, its documents, its subfolders, and their documents. Synchronizing a document only updates the document file and its attributes.
